I drove to the base of Mt. Vernon today... After sizing up the mountain I chose to advance up the mount from the east side. Half-way up the peak, I took a moment to revive. Upon reaching the summit I was able to see miles of rippling wheat fields as the peak is above tree-line. I took moment to also admire tundra and small flowers that strive to live in the harsh environment. As I continued to wander around I happened on several caves who indwellers were unknown, so I decided against further investigation. To complete the hike I descended via the western trail which was mostly rock and a bit dangerous. As I ended the hike I was slightly disappointed that I didn't come across any wildlife. Over all a great hike!!!
