"Introduced the Delguercio boys to the Adirondacks and get their feet wet. A beautiful day and bluebird skies with no humidity. A wonderful surprise to see Nat Ski and Stevens at the summit, too too long friends. What a wonderful day!" — scottturner • Jul 20, 2024
"Hiked on a gorgeous day with Marcia and Tiffany - their first Adirondack peak. I chose it for the views and it delivered. The new east trail is so nice - the Cadillac of ADK trails. I have missed hiking and this was a good intro back. Afterwards we did the Cliffside Coaster in the Olympic Center. So fun! " — kvander • Jul 14, 2024
"The rain ended in time for our family, plus one, to enjoy this hike with amazing views. This is one of the easiest hikes we have done with stairs in the entire way up. We took the east trail which starts at the Olympic sites which is very interesting. The climb was humid due to the rain the few hours before but the the cool breeze at the top and the view was worth it. There are three different spots at the summit with overlooks all close to each other with views of the high peaks and others as well as being able to see the ski jumps in the distance. The hike back down was easy on everything but the knees with so many stairs. Would recommend to most people and ages. " — jan2ny • Aug 29, 2023
"A bluebird day and not a cloud in the sky! A stunning day for Wyndham’s first taste of the Adirondack Mountains. He is such a jolly little man and loved the summit, more so because he got to enjoy sweet potatoes there. He loved touching the moss and trees. Future 46er on the horizon. 💙⛰️🙌🏻" — scottturner • May 13, 2023
"Was really hoping to see peak foliage but disappointed to miss it by a week or so. There were still some tinges of color and such a beautiful Fall day, so not all was lost and a gorgeous bluebird day in the High Peaks Region. My first time hiking in five months, this has been an extremely busy year outside mountains so it was nice to be back. I began the morning with a quick trip up Mount Jo and then followed that up with Mount Van Hoevenberg via the East Trail which I hadn’t yet tried as I normally take the Meadow Lane approach. ⛰🍁 🍂 " — scottturner • Oct 16, 2022
"Hiked with friends from TN on their first ADK hike and Bailey the Hiking Pup. 2nd time up here, first in fall and first time from the new trail. Nice hike, very windy up top but gorgeous colors and clouds like a Bob Ross painting!" — Mousetek • Oct 12, 2022
"Did this from the Van Hoevenberg Ski Area on the new trail. Really great trail and fun to try a newer trail that is designed with modern techniques. Very pleasant hike, but buggy." — hanawalton • Jun 29, 2022
"Our day to head home so Lorraine, Ed and I did a fun onesie on a new trail for us. From the Loj we headed over to the Van Hoevenberg complex hoping to stumble upon the parking lot and TH for the trail. Didn’t find any signage so we just parked near the bobsled run and new building. With packs on and walking up to the building we finally saw a sign saying “trail” with a trail marker leading us to the beginning of the East trail. Easy grade with plenty of switchbacks got us to the summit before we knew it. The clear day allowed for great views from the various ledges. The trail, still not fully complete, would make for a nice easy trail run. Use both trails for a thru-run or hike with a stashed bike at South Meadows to make a multi-modal loop." — Nimblefoot • Oct 11, 2021
"Tom, Black and I left ADK LOJ road trailhead at 9:30 am. 20 degrees and cloudy. Trail in good shape. Snowshoes to the summit. Started snowing halfway to the summit. Driving snow and wind on the summit with no view. Returned to car at 12:30 @24 degrees ." — garyogden • Feb 6, 2021
"Vacation with Molly and the weather wasn't cooperating. This was the only hike we did. Started off getting lost on the XC ski trails. We were then redirected to a different parking lot and we were able to follow the trail towards the summit. Great directional views just below the summit. My first time here and Molly's first peak in the Adirondacks. " — newenglandwarrior • Jan 18, 2020
