"Group hike up the easy A to Z trail. Cold but not like across the notch on the presidentials. A pair of camp robbers visited us at the summit, but since it was too cold to enjoy lunch they left having only pilfered a few peanuts and raisins. Another 4000er for most, the dogs’ first one. "A nice sunny day in the mountains. Zero degrees at the trailhead but around 20 atop the ridge. But no wind was a really nice deal. Not quite enough snow to wear snowshoes on all the terrain. So some shoes and some spikes. Great views from Willey, Field and Avalon." — Alohabuffy • Dec 19, 2020
"The three of us visited the summits of these three peaks to bring Tom up to 18 of the 48, working his way toward completing the 115. A glorious day despite a low cloud cover, canceling all views, and the occasional light rain. With recent rain and the melting of earlier snowfall the trails were turned into mini-streams and we had numerous little “ponds” to navigate through. Red lined the Kedron Flume and Willey range trails in the process." — Nimblefoot • Oct 20, 2020

"Couldn't have asked for a better first hiking trip into the Whites. Everything was perfect from the mountains to the weather and especially the company. I will be returning and I will be returning often." — Right-On • Aug 1, 2020

"Climbed with my daughter Kelly, her first 4000 footer. Hoped for some sun but it was cloudy and rainy most of the day with a few sunny breaks. The view from Mt. Tom is nearly non-existent now with the tree growth. Relatively slow going up and back due to the wetness." — SteveM_StickMan • Aug 10, 2019

"2 semaines solo de pure plaisir à faire du hiking à différentes places dont les Whites Moutains. Pour cette série je voulais faire Avalon, Willey, Field et ensuite arriver sur Tom pour le coucher du soleil. La journée était parfait pour cela. Aucun nuage, ni rien! Et finalement, à mon arriver sur Tom, des gros nuages se sont mis de la partie. Donc je suis repartis sans avoir de photo de coucher de soleil.... Mais j'ai mes 4 sommets! :)" — fsoucy76 • Sep 27, 2018

"Solo. 9/48, and my final hike on my New Hampshire “adventurecation”. See Willey & Field logs for the start and middle of the traverse. After being inundated with way too many people on Mount Field, I quickly ducked back into the forest to get over to Mount Tom. This trail was very muddy (shoe sucker mud!) and had strange rocky spots that almost looked like gravel had been dumped on the trail. Perhaps it was? A couple of the French speakers from Field raced down the trail behind me, never said excuse me and almost knocked me out of their way in their rush on the trail. Why? Ugh. I hate poor trail etiquette. There was also a strange area of cut down dead grey trees laying around. A lot of the trail was lush and green with moss, and there were quite a few little field mice munching on mushrooms along the way, which pretty much made my day. :-) On Mt Tom there was a sneak of a view over the trees, and I sat and had my summit beer in the company of the guy & his father I had met earlier. They took of a photo of me making a Tom Face on Mount Tom for my brother, and I made my way back. It was a long slog back to my car back up over Field, which felt like it took forever to summit again, a..." — kellieirene • Aug 27, 2018

"AH - MAZING day in the whites! No clouds...just sun and no wind either! Throw in feeding the gray jays and we were happy as pigs in slop. Got Tom, Field and Willey on the books for April." — shay-shay • Apr 23, 2018
"Nice winter day, near 30 at base of mountains. Hiked up the Avalon Trail to Avalon, then up to Mt. Field and over to Tom. Lots of packed snow on trail, mirco spikes up to Avalon and Mt. Field. From Field to Mt. Tom put on snowshoes." — blackwolf_03278 • Feb 19, 2018
"Columbus Day weekend. We chose the best day weather wise but still ran into light rain and drizzle for a good portion of the hike.
We ascended via the Avalon trail to the A-Z trail to the Mt Tom Spur. Then we hiked across to Mt Field. The descent down the Avalon trail was very steep tricky and wet as rain continued.
A truly beautiful hike despite the limited views and diminished visibility. We skipped the Mt Avalon spur due to time.
Not our fastest hike as we took many stops for pics!" — Amero4k • Oct 7, 2017
