"Day two of section hike, from gentian pond campsite to full goose. Summited five peaks, with a lot of above-treeline terrain. Much of that terrain was muddy and needed log bridges to cross, which were not in good shape." — noahthackeray • Jun 14, 2022
"Teamed up with Yvonne Y for a red-lining hike. We went up Notch Tr and out Austin Brook Tr. The weather was mostly crappy. We were in the clouds for most of it. We didn't get views until Mt Success. " — newenglandwarrior • Sep 21, 2019
"This was a hike and not to hard! The views from the Lookout and summit were awesome, could have stayed for hours enjoying it if not for blackflys. Took the extra time to find the 1954 plane crash hurd path and see DC3 plane." — blackwolf_03278 • Jun 28, 2019
"A super fun weekend filled with all of the most northern peaks on the 52wav to finish the patch up. Hit success on the way up as a bonus....I totally forgot about the plane crash and forgot to venture out past the summit to visit it....UGH! So I will head back to see it sometime soon. It was a beautiful view and while clouds and light rain started on our way down it was still a great hike!" — shay-shay • Jul 15, 2017
"Great hike, started late to avoid the rain. Worked out nicely. Love the whole hike, with the Outlook and the sedge fields and the airplane crash. Still alot of wetness, everywhere though. Even Succ Rd was OK." — Alohabuffy • Jun 24, 2017
"AT Thru Hike 2016.
Met up with Katie and Ed at the summit of Mt. Success, so that they could join for the last couple miles of New Hampshire before heading into Maine. One state to go!" — Kim-Stilson • Sep 4, 2016
"Some friends wanted to hike Success before the Barnes Field Weekend, and I tagged along since I knew where the plane wreckage was. Nice hike up. Little haze this time, so had great views all around from the summit and the overlook cliff. Spotted the prison in Berlin from there. Briefly went to the plane wreckage, then we all left." — newenglandwarrior • Aug 14, 2015
"Long hike, very wet after spring rains. Did outlook, Success peak and plane crash site. There was one place on the trail that was a 12 foot drop, I had some difficulty getting 2 big dogs up over it on the return. " — mary.wright.35977 • May 28, 2013
"Hit the summit, and poor Bill bonked! I went to look for the plane crash, but couldn't find it and thought it was best to not poke around off trail by myself.
Bill was hurting, so we cut it short and didn't head to Gentian Pond to camp as planned.
Kind of a disappointing trip... can't wait to head back in the winter!" — lauren.purtell • Aug 25, 2012
"Hiked up from Success Pond Trailhead. Light snow along the way, the trail was frozen over. At the summit the scrub pines were all coated in thick frost. Went down the east side a little ways to the 1954 DC-3 crash site. Returned the same route with a detour along the Outlook Loop." — JASTA11 • Apr 28, 2012
