"Great to get this classic done. We got some rain on the way down plus a rainbow over Rae glacier! This one felt more difficult than moderate with the exposure and a few class 4 moves near the top." — yuri • Aug 13, 2022

"Followed west ridge up from the road, definitely some 5.6 - 5.7 up and down climbs on the ridge, wasted about an hour with route finding issues. Hoards of bugs and people (same thing) in the cirque on the way out." — corbinruthven • Jul 31, 2022

"Good day out. Snow is manageable. Did the full west/south ridge to the saddle and then up to Rae. In my opinion it is 4th if you choose to make it it can be 5th or 3rd class if you spend the time. Car to car 5hours " — Rocky Mountain Goats • Jul 9, 2022

"did an early start (7 am) to avoid both the heath, and throngs of people. We were the first up, and halfway down to the col before we saw the next group coming up. Many people coming up with poor footwear, and almost no helmets..." — apfelstrudel • Aug 16, 2020

"Reasonably early start onto the trail. Weather delay as we waited an hour for sky to clear up and it did so. Straightforward to cirque, up scree and to summit. Fossils in rocks along the way there. Saw two other people near the summit. Beautiful views. Summit logbook register cache was in good shape. Found an exposed ridge early on the way down, could be partly avoidable below - on west summit side face. No problems on the scree going down. Shocker in the surprisingly quiet Ptarmigan Cirque: Big bear with 2 cubs just 100 m away! We left quickly, and making noise, down to the parking lot. Yellow closure tapes across our trail had been put-up during our hiking day." — geoffc • Sep 4, 2019

"Tried on three separate occasions to bag Mount Rae and was unsuccessful every time.... FINALLY, 4th try, we got it bagged lol. SO happy to finally have done it. Definitely one of the best views in Kananaskis I've ever seen. Start by heading up to the Ptarmigan cirque. Then go further up the valley and around to the left. You have what seems like an impassable wall, but I assure you, it is passable. We went up closer to the left side but not too far over. Once we got to the top we turned and went down the ridge a short ways before cutting left to go across to the next ridge that leads to the summit. Some fun scrambling to be had along that particular ridge. As stated before, one of the best summit views in Kananaskis. " — Slogenstein • Aug 3, 2019

"Nine of us went up Mt. Rae via two different routes. All of us summitted, but the group of four doing the difficult variation was slower given the terrain choice. All in all a great day with no issues and not too smokey for my 100th Kane peak. This was possibly my last scramble of the season, so glad to make it count!" — leigh-annewebster • Sep 9, 2017

"Solo scramble for the eclipse followed the ridge the whole way to the the summit. Passed another group of 5 on the way up and met them at the summit later. 2 hours on the summit." — ken_hercules • Aug 21, 2017
"After an alpine start, I traipsed the trail, used the sheep super speedway bypassing the cruxy chimney, and rambled up the rocky ridge of Mt Rae. There was some snow present which did require more caution on the slabby sections and on the ridge. I got started early as 13cm of snow was expected for the afternoon." — BertB • Sep 3, 2015

"Went perhaps a little too early as there was still snow on the slopes approaching the col. Due to this we got off track and wasted a lot of time. Could easily have gone up a separate section that was clear but didn't realise it. A storm approached and I scrambled over wet rocks to reach the summit and descent whilst my partner waited below. Found a nice Horn Corral on the descent however. A good summit bag over 3000m and take in Ptarmigan Circque at the same time. " — MarkJPerkins • Jun 29, 2015
