"Lovely climb from La Sal Pass. Drive up to the pass was fine, creek crossing was manageable in an AWD Honda CRV. Ducked route up the gully to where a use trail takes off up the face. Smoky skies obscured views to the west, but the Rockies were visible to the east." — edg • Sep 9, 2021

"We stayed in Moab overnight before driving out to the trailhead. The dirt road is excellent. The little stream crossing was fun in my Toyota Corolla - no problems. Just past the sign for Beaver lake, we turned right onto the access road for the trailhead. My car wouldn't go up the initial steep climb so we parked and hiked. The road only has two or three spots where a passenger car can't make it - but a high clearance vehicle would have no problems.
We got to the end of the road and started up the trail. The first part is beautiful - meadow on one side of the trail and you're hiking through trees. The trail isn't that steep until it heads up a gully or drainage. The trail follows this up until turning right up the side of the mountain. This part wasn't fun as the trail had shale and loose dirt that was hard to negotiate due to the slipping involved. We actually found it easier to hike just off the trail. The hike to the summit was pretty straight forward. The wind shelter at the top was a welcome sight as the wind was blowing over the top about 20-25 miles an hour. Sitting in the shelter eating lunch was wonderful and warm, but as soon as you stood up, your upper body would get ..." — Hilljr • Aug 13, 2016

"Started around 2 pm. Some steep parts, but mostly pleasant. The pikas were making silly noises at me. Saw a herd of goats toward the summit. Got rainy on way down. Camped in meadows at trailhead & it poured all night. Clouds were low & clingy the next morning. It was quite beautiful." — StudioHoodoo • Sep 26, 2014

"Hiked with Scott V. as part of break from Indian Creek climbing. Very fun ridge hike with alpine feel (some snow) and great views on a blue sky day. Did the Fang on the way up. Really liked this hike. " — louhibbard • Nov 4, 2012

"Spent the night at La Sal Pass. Climbed up the South Couloir. Summited amid desert squalls, with lightening. Did not stay at the top long in order to prevent getting hit by lightening." — strongbad_reggie • Sep 1, 2012
