"Did it as a loop. Parked at the Mt Chocorua Liberty Trail parking lot. Hiked clockwise - up starting on Bolles and then left onto Old Paugus Trail to the summit and down via Old Paugus to Beeline, to Bee Line Cutoff, to Bolles. Started/ended on a flat trail, but was steep toward the top. Old Paugus was a rock scramble and Bee Line was sheer steep dirt. " — AmyScrambles • May 28, 2023
"A bushwack to Paugus for a NH200H gain. I went up the Beeline Tr. I bushwack in kind of sucked, but coming out was much better. I went down the Lawrence Tr and Cabin Tr and made a loop out. I went on to check out Great Hill next. " — newenglandwarrior • Jun 24, 2021
"Went up the Big Rock Caves Trail as the map referred to it as a "moderate grade". It was anything but moderate, May have been one of the steepest trails I've ever done!! Great trail with numerous natural history sites of interest. The geology of the area is quite unique. Rock scrambles, blow down areas that look like giant pick up sticks game. A very long and challenging eight hour day for this old guy!!!" — goshen-bagger • Aug 2, 2017
"Well....lets just say this was similar to my sleepers experience this winter....except no snow, and a touch of cell service...and 8.5 miles instead of 15+. I am guessing that the microburst that attacked the trees on the sleepers also did the damage here as well....
Avoid the Old Paugus Trail if at all possible!!! HUNDREDS of downed trees, bushwhacking was a necessity and even still some sections were mentally and physically exhausting. After summit I continued to Lawrence trail which was well groomed but slippery which led to a major fall....lots of blood and a bone in my hand possibly broken. Made it out to tell the tail but definitely not doing this one again!" — shay-shay • Jun 21, 2017
"Nice sunny day, no wind, temps around 70s. Hike up Cabin and Lawrence trails are nice. Summit ledges a fantastic spot for lunch with great views. Should have returned this way though. Descended via Old Paugus and Big Rock Cave trails. Not much fun!" — Alohabuffy • Sep 3, 2016
