"Yesterday I summited Mount Ogden via Snowbasin side. 9.25 miles. I tried to stick to the "summer road" the whole way up, but it seemed to go off a track a few times, and I ended up hiking up a ski run in a few places. The last push to the summit was very steep and riddled with scree. I was about 0.7 miles from the top when my knee started hurting badly. I took some willow bark and I think it kicked in around the time I made it to the summit. The way down was brutal. I tried not to favor my knee, but it was still hurting despite the willow bark. I thought about resorting to Ibuprofen but chose to try getting down without it. On the way down, I took more ski runs than the summer road, and I think that may have sped up my journey more than I had expected. I ended up cutting 2 hours off of my expected descent time. I managed to make it home with a small bag full of ripe elderberries, which I intend to dehydrate for tea." — ghostofsws • Sep 17, 2025
"Rode the Gondola up then hiked up to the ridge. First hiked up De Moisy then followed the ridge over to Strawberry. Walked the ridge back over to Mt. Ogden and over to Allen Peak. Rode the Gondola back down." — JasonFitz • Jun 19, 2022
"Opening Day for the Summer Season at Snowbasin and I thought I would hike up to the Peak and see how much snow was still on the Mountain. The ride halfway up I could tell this hike was going to be in snow. The trail lasted about 50ft before it became a free for all. There was still a lot of snow, but I managed to find a couple thawed areas to help me up and onto the ridge. After hitting the West side of Needle summit I was back on dry trail until I was right above the Porky Lift. This is where I encounter some huge cornices, I stuck to the trees and hugged the edge and slide my way to the base of Mt. Ogden. Quick hike up the road and I was on top. I was a great day to be on the Peak. " — CacheMACS • Jun 10, 2017
