"Mount Nebo was a very steep, challenging hike. The hike was incredibly windy and the loose shale rock made the hike far more treacherous than I expected. The hardest part begins after the saddle between North Peak and Mount Nebo with the spine between Mt. Nebo's sub-peak and summit the greatest obstacle for those afraid of steep drop-offs and narrow trails comprised of loose rocks that fall after each step. The scramble to the summit was a class III that could easily be considered a class IV at varying parts. Very rewarding to have finished it, but probably would not try it again on a windy day. I bagged North Peak on the way back for an extra 1 mile added to the hike.
I started the hike at 0952, reached the saddle between North and Nebo at 1131 and summitted Mt. Nebo at 1237. I made it back to my car by 1516 for a total of 13 miles. " — mchikes • Oct 22, 2020

"My second summit. You can see all of utah from the top of Nebo. It was truly amazing. Trail is very poor unfortunately, with lots of ups and downs, and some badly thought out switchbacks. I plan to return later and repair the trail with some friends" — MillsapLandon • Aug 1, 2020
"I experienced every type of weather on this climb. Whiteout snow, freezing winds, rain, sun, you name it. Summit ridge was partially snow covered which made the final climb more interesting than it otherwise would have been; was glad to have my ice axe. Beautiful fall colors along Nebo Bench. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the Wasatch." — edg • Sep 30, 2017

"Day 2 of our 2-day Utah climbing weekend. A little more of a challenging climb with a torn meniscus so we took it slow. Made the drive from Park City and from the trailhead made the summit and back round trip in about 6 hours, taking a pretty leisurly pace. As with the previous day, the weather was changing fast, and people who had started earlier warned us about high winds past North Peak and up Mount Nebo itself. Starting a bit later in the day may have helped us, as the winds weren't that bad. Very enjoyable hike which starts out on an easy to follow trail and which ends with some fun scrambling and boulder hopping towards the top. There is a slight trail up the final ridge (actually trails), but it's narrow enough where the mountain itself tells you where to go if you lose the actual trail, meaning it's pretty hard to get lost. There are several hundred feet of elevation lost on the way up, making the return hike a bit more challenging than normal. The sore knee kept us from doing North Peak too, but that seems to be a pretty easy second summit to hit on this hike.
We chose between Nebo and Mount Timpanogos today...I guess "Timp" is more scenic and picturesque (n..." — BryHong8 • Sep 4, 2016

"Camped at the trailhead. Started at 8:30 am and was back at the car by 2:45. On the way back down we decided to take a detour and summit the north peak - not a big deal. The weather was warm and sunny, cold and windy, hailing and raining, then warm and sunny again....standard for tall peaks in Utah." — Hilljr • Sep 3, 2016

"Summited Nebo back in the 70's when it was believed that the south peak was the highest. After reading that a new measurement showed that the north peak is actually higher, I had to go back and conquer! Would like to try this again sometime and hit all 3 peaks..." — Terminus00000000 • Aug 18, 2013

"What a great way to spend Labor day. It was perfect weather for this hike. Started out at 47deg and never got over 80deg, slight breeze just enough to keep it cool.
This hike has a little of everything in it, rolling hills, nice valleys, cool passes, nice overlooks, and some incredible steeps. A little scramble here and there but not as much as you would think looking at this monster. One I would highly recommend." — CacheMACS • Sep 3, 2012

"Christina, Kayt, and Ted Meikle, Tyson Winder, Austin McCouloch, Anela Heywood, and myself drove to the trailhead for Nebo in the full moon at 1:30 am. We wanted to reach the top before the heat of the day, and before the mountain got congested with hikers. We reached the summit ridge along the base of North Peak at about 4:00 am, we reached the North "False" summit above the saddle just as the sun was breaking above the horizon, and we summited Nebo at about 7:30 am. We signed our names in the geocache, and then made our way down the mountain at about 8:30 am. The hike back down the mountain was almost worse than the hike up though, as it was so hot!" — strongbad_reggie • Aug 13, 2011
