"Been on my short list for a while, and decided to end the climbing part of my wedding week here since my rehearsal dinner was at Convict Lake at the base the following day. Hiking up the river bed to the east was probably the most enjoyable part of the climb before heading up the steep and loose class II. Justin and I were separated in the messy east slope and I wound up spending an hour at the top from waiting for him to refind the route and enjoying summit beers between the two of us. Beautiful way to end the climbing part of the trip before getting married at Forest Chapel in Mammoth Lakes and a gondola reception up Mammoth Mountain later that week.

"It's hard to ignore this prominent summit when driving down 395. It's been on my 'want' list for quite a while, and I'm so happy to finally have summited. The class 2-ish scramble is fun with some tricky routefinding along the way. Lots of dead ends in steep terrain, but very rewarding once figured out. " — calipidder • Aug 21, 2014

"Entire hike is off trail. Starts with scrambling up a drainage from Convict Lake, then it's a Class 2/3 scramble up a gully to the summit. 4400 feet of elevation gain over approximately 3-4 miles. The summit puts you right up in the middle of some beautiful peaks. You can see the Ritter Range to north. There are several large alpine lakes that you get great views of." — Big-Alpine • Sep 5, 2012
