Took the shortcut along the “powerline” route from Bouquet Canyon Road. I quickly spotted the use trail about a mile in, which bypasses the road and elevated to the ridge. On the ridge, I turned left and efficiently climbed the high point of the ridge, which is Mt McDill.
Beyond the summit, there are some other peaks with towers on them. I took the opportunity to extend the hike to visit them too. While returning I missed the bypass trail and wound up following the meandering powerline road back to Bouquet Canyon Road. Suddenly my short outing became a long one!
