"Forecast was abundant sunshine, heavy cloud cover at the trailhead and on Martha summit. Headed over to Owlshead and got some sunshine there. Back to Martha and just off in the distance started to see some clearing. Snowshoes door to door." — Alohabuffy • Jan 12, 2025
"We wanted a short hike with views to do before any rain came in and was close to our motel in Twin Mountain. Nice climb to Martha with some decent views then onto Martha’s mile(@0.8 miles) to reach the tiny bump of Owlshead. Even better views so it was worth the easy stroll back and forth. Little spikes all day with only a few icy spots on the last pitch to Owlshead. First time for Ed and John, upon returning to the car they approved the choice of peaks." — Nimblefoot • Mar 2, 2024
"Molly and I headed up from the west. Gradual ascent up. We eventually reached the summit and were rewarded with hazy views to the west. Great views though of Hale, the Twins, and the upper Franconia Ridge. I thought it was more open the last time I was here. " — newenglandwarrior • Sep 4, 2023
"We parked on Cherry Mtn rd to start hike, with a car spotted at Owls head trailhead. The first couple miles was smooth and trail was muddy and thick with grass in areas. After trail split off onto the Owls head trail was little steeper and more rocky. Once at summit and enjoyed snack, continued over to Owls head on the Martha's mile trail. Views from both peaks were nice, but it was cloudy and hazy." — blackwolf_03278 • Aug 5, 2018

"Overcast cool day at trailhead. Some mud down low but easily avoided without damaging the trail. Last third before the summit was icy and microspikes definitely needed. Cold for this time of year on the summit. No views today." — goshen-bagger • Apr 20, 2017

"Amazing hike up Martha to owls head and then over to cherry. Lots of animal tracks including moose but no animals! The trail was packed due to snow mobiles until we hit the top of Martha. Snow shoes were needed to owls head and back. " — shay-shay • Jan 6, 2017
"Beautiful day, great trail and a fun mt. Awesome views of the entire Presi range from summit. Plus a viewpoint past the firetower east of Franconia ridge. Bagged Owl's Head also." — Alohabuffy • Mar 12, 2016

"Cloudy day, driving through Franconia Notch we were pretty sure we wouldn't have any visibility. The cherry mountain trail was covered with fallen leaves and snow. The trail narrowed at one point and dropped off on the right hand side to a stream below. After the narrow area the trail got steeper as it made its way up to the logging road. After crossing the logging road and making a left towards Mt. Martha's summit we found tons of animal tracks in the snow. We even saw what appeared to be a Mink run out of the woods onto the trail and bound up the trail ahead of us. Very cool! When we got up to the top the Presidentials were partly covered in clouds and the sun was causing them to glow out the bottom of the clouds. We never got to see them completely uncovered but seeing them in the clouds and with the partially sun was a very stunning sight when we first got to the top. Walked to the other side near the old fire tower and saw Bretton Woods with all their trails snow covered. Very nice day. I slipped and fell twice, well I say twice, my girlfriend says three times, but who's counting, on the way down due to snow and slush on top of a blanket of fall leaves on the trail...." — sockmonkey145 • Dec 2, 2012
