"Started at Stevensville Road Trailhead. Went up the Frost Trail to Long Trail and summited The Forehead. Kept on the Long Trail and summited The Nose. Returned by heading south on the Long Trail the Forehead Bypass then Wallace Cutoff to Butler Lodge. The Bypass has a lot of slick wet rock. Checked out the Butler Lodge and then descended via the Butler Lodge Trail. Total distance was 6.15 miles with 2,678 feet of elevation gain." — Zardoz • Jun 30, 2023
"After hiking Camel's Hump, I stayed in the greater Burlington area to hike Mansfield the next day. I parked just outside of Underhill State Park and hiked up the Halfway House Tr to the LT. I headed up the Nose first. That had some nice views. I then headed up the LT and detoured down to the Amherst Tr on the way to the summit of Mansfield. Beautiful day today. I then headed down the Laura Cowles Tr back to the car and drove home. Another Calendar Day gain for me. " — newenglandwarrior • Oct 21, 2022

"With friends of mine, climbed Mt. Mansfield via the Long Trail for the finish of my NE111/115. Celebrated with champagne at the top. Skies were cloudy and it was chilly and windy on the summit. Incredible above treeline adventure from The Chin to The Nose. Descended via the ski slopes" — JMindlin12463 • Sep 11, 2021

"Continued on to this one I hadn't gotten to on my last trip (in 2012). There is no trail to the summit due to it being the VT Public Broadcasting antenna site, although there are no signs discouraging hikers, so I followed the access road up and back." — SteveM_StickMan • Jun 7, 2021

"Hiked with Tom, Katie, and Ed. Beautiful day to be out hiking. Took a nice slow pace and did a nice loop ending with the sunset ridge trail. Overall a great day and another state high point for me!" — Kim-Stilson • Jun 22, 2019
"Kim and our friends Katie and Ed spent the weekend at Underhill State Park. On Saturday we decided to hike up to the mansfield ridge and do a nice loop. Tons of people on the mountain as the weather was beautiful, there was a Canadian holiday, and people can drive up or take the gondola. It was still a nice to go to out and hike as I haven't hiked in a couple months. Didn't take my watch with me, so unfortunately no GPX track of the hike. " — LGH-Tom • Jun 22, 2019

"Stayed in Stowe for the weekend with Tom. Decided to hike to The Nose of Mansfield since Tom had previously been to the highest point. This also gave us the chance to use our sleds on the way down. We hiked up the ski slopes to the summit of the resort, took us a minute to figure out how to gain the actual summit. We followed the toll road to the visitor's center and then made our way to the TV station and the actual summit of the mountain. On the way down we used our sleds to go down the ski slopes, going as fast as 19mph at one point in time. It was the most fun I've ever had descending a mountain. " — Kim-Stilson • Apr 28, 2018

"Short and steep! Going up Long trail was fun, especially final scramble. But peak was littered with car folk. Oh well, its a spectacular spot for everybody. Just a little too hazy to see Champlain. First VT 4k, great hike!" — Alohabuffy • Sep 19, 2015

"After summitting Mt. Mansfield at the Chin, which involved bushwhacking up the side of Bear Head, did some exploring of the area along the LT, ending up at the Visitor's Center near the auto road pkg. lot, short of The Nose, where I turned around due to the time." — SteveM_StickMan • Jul 11, 2012
