"Did Lola and the north ridge as a clockwise loop from the main northern trailhead. The maintained trail up Lola is pretty straightforward, with some snow patches still hanging out along the trail. Lola summit was quite windy, but there's a windbreak at the summit to hide behind for shelter. The traverse along the ridge to North Lola is pretty easy, with mostly open country and gentle grades. Views at the summits and along the ridge are stunning, and some waterfalls lie along the main trail.
The bushwhack from North Lola back down to the trail is...interesting. AllTrails and Natural Atlas show a logging road that leads from east of North Lola back down to the trail, but this road is in such bad shape that you're better off just bushwhacking down the slope. It appears that serious effort has been taken to make the road hard to use by any mode of transportation, with countless fallen trees perpendicular to the road and large piles of rocks. Water crossings along the main trail were a tad high, but were doable. " — coasterlover1994 • Sep 9, 2023

"Started from the footbridge (road was not bad w/ 4Runner). Hiked to Mt. Lola then crossed the ridge line to Mt. Lola-North Peak and back down to the trail and out. It was a bluebird day and was expecting a storm the next day. " — mj3920 • Oct 16, 2021

"Late winter ascent of Mt. Lola (and North Lola) from the Snowmobile Staging area on HWY 89. I brought xc skis and snowshoes. I skied the first 4.5 mi over icy snow-mobile tracks, then switched to snowshoes for the rest of the ascent. Along the way, I stashed the skis at Cold Stream Meadow before heading up the steep slope towards Lola North. The snow was relatively firm, with a little powder on top - fine for a snowshoe ascent. Sunny and a little windy at the top with fantastic views of the northern Sierra. From the summit, I dropped down the east ridge, then down into the Cold Stream creek bed back to the Meadow. From here I switched backed to skis and skied down about 8 miles of forest service roads back to the car. First time using skis to bag a peak - It wasn't always elegant but it was definitely more fun than a long hike out.

"We had a nice cool morning start (37 degrees around 8:30). After getting to the Mt. Lola summit, I tagged this peak since I knew it's the Sierra County high point. Nice weather, but there was some smoke and haze in the air. On the way down, we ran into a woman who had two large but friendly goat-rams. Super cute!" — kaylam87 • Sep 9, 2017
