"Beautiful day with minimal cloud cover. A little humid in the morning but that cleared up in the afternoon. Set off from the Whitehouse Trailhead just after 8:45am. The Whitehouse Trail covers about a half-mile of a relatively flat forest path before connecting with the Franconia Notch Bike Path. Right at the intersection with the Bike Path is a small unofficial trail which has an overlook of the Pemigewasset River. After following the Bike Path over a bridge, the Liberty Spring Trail splits off and begins a moderate rocky ascent with one large switchback. This continues for about a half-mile before the intersection with the Flume Slide Trail. The Flume Slide Trail is very mild for the first 2.5 miles, rising only 900 feet. There are several brook crossings, and it was cool to know that all of those brooks eventually reached the Flume and Liberty Gorges which I had visited numerous times as a kid. After one crossing the forest suddenly changed from a bright, primarily deciduous collection of trees to a much darker evergreen section. Soon after, I reached the beginning of the steep uphill climb. The 4-mile approach to the Slide took me roughly 2 hours. There is about a quarter-mile ..." — JCalautti • Jul 20, 2024
"A hike for a Calendar Day. Headed up Liberty and Flume. The river crossing wasn't bad. I used microspikes to cross the icy rocks. Made my way up Liberty Springs Tr and found more significant snow and ice about .25 miles below Liberty Springs Tentsite. I reached the summit of Liberty, then headed over to Flume. Beautiful day for both peaks. Headed out the way I went in. " — newenglandwarrior • Dec 22, 2023

"Snow had just fallen the night before so there was up to 6 inches on the trail in some places making for a very physically demanding ascent. Once at top, no visibility and very windy. " — HikingMomMC • Nov 27, 2023

"Did a Semi-Pemi Loop backpack from the Lincoln Woods Trailhead up the Ossetian Trail and along the AT. Camped at Liberty Springs continued along the AT to Garfield summit and then down the Franconia Brook Trail to camp at 13 Falls then back down the Lincoln Woods trail. Nine summits in total with 26 miles and 6,800 feet of elevation gain. A three day trip" — Zardoz • Sep 6, 2023
"A lot of clouds followed us up Liberty Spring trail. But still had the usual spectacular views, especially the Pemi Wilderness, from the summit. We both agreed this trail is a lot easier in the winter." — Alohabuffy • May 15, 2023
"A hike to Liberty for some chad on Molly's Grid (she already had Flume). We hiked up from the Flume Gorge Visitor's Center, up the bike path to Liberty Springs Tr. I barebooted the whole thing. Some snow at higher elevations but not much. Not even 4 inches. Windy on the summit today. Clear and beautiful except for that wind part. I gained a Calendar Day. " — newenglandwarrior • Nov 26, 2022
"Pemi Loop. 20 hrs, 2 minutes. 4 of us. Flume was the first peak, Bondcliff the last. We also threw in Galehead and West Bond for 10 peaks total. Got some blisters out of this hike. Glad to have finally done one. " — newenglandwarrior • Jul 1, 2022
"You can't have better winter weather. Around 20, brilliant sunshine and little to no wind. Fabulous day on Liberty with clear views everywhere. Trail is in good shape, still just not enough snow for shoes, spikes were fine." — Alohabuffy • Jan 16, 2022
"The last day of the year. I did an out and back on Liberty and Flume. I was amazed that I made it to Liberty without needing spikes. Not the best weather for views today. Heavy cloud cover." — newenglandwarrior • Dec 31, 2020
"I went for Liberty and Flume today. I was surprised I was able to make my way up Liberty without spikes. I put them on when heading over to Flume. I made excellent time coming back out. Some more Grid peak gains. I am now at 45 for November. " — newenglandwarrior • Nov 27, 2020
