"After a group trip to Orca's Island, I caught an early ferry to scout out Mt Erie for a good beginner crag. After some scrambling in the rain I found a newer area called friction slab that looked perfect to teach some newer climbers how to lead and belay. " — MikeERodriguez • Jun 27, 2025
"Made two summits, the first as a scramble heading SW from the parking lot and approaching from the SE, passing the Sunset Slabs. We descended back to the entry trail, then climbed again through a class three pitch with a fixed line for practice, and took a series of trails (226, 230, 215) east of Mt. Erie to Sugarloaf and back to the trailhead." — diana • Feb 26, 2012

"Despite the summit parking lots and crowds, this hike is still worth it. Great trail up the north side ends in the parking lot. The view from the southwestern lookout down on Lake Campbell and beyond is tremendous." — scott • Jun 25, 2011
