"In and out day hike along the AT from Newfound Gap to Clingmans Dome and back. Frigid air temps and howling winds made for a chilly trek on an otherwise clear day. The summit of Mt. Collins was under cover and anti-climatic, however the big reward was having the entire observation tower on Clingmans Dome to myself. 40+ knot wind gusts and a snow covered summit made for a bit of a surreal experience which was well worth the trip.
