"Our approach for Charles Stewart started with a 10km saunter up Cougar Creek. From there we headed up to a large grassy alpine bowl, where big horn sheep grazed and marmots gallivanted. After a stroll across the bowl followed by a short scree slog we arrived on the ridge. The ridge traverse to the summit was mostly easy and I took a traverse along loose scree slope to bypass the gnarly ridge before reaching the summit.
After scooting back down into the bowl, we staggered up a talus slope to a col and onto the SE2 summit. We descended from the col down down scree and hardpack into the drainage to the south, which allowed us to loop back to Cougar Creek.

"Long trip mainly hiking, 30km started from downtown Canmore to Cougar creek to Carrot/Cougar col. Route finding at summit loose rock and running water made it challenging. Made sure to constantly look back at route and made some cairns for descending one wrong turn could be costly. Happy to bag this peak! Also went to point 183694 along the boundary ridge." — Randy • Jul 18, 2015
