"Logans Ridge ascent to East Peak, across to Northern Pinnacle and surveying Leaning Peak without summiting, followed by descent down North Ridge. With Hugo and Flynn, Hugo's first 'big' hike.
The track up Logans Ridge was fairly easily to follow most of the time, occasionally disappearing, but only for a short while. It had more challenging scrambling than South-East Ridge, but nothing overly difficult, like many reports say. Views of the East face were second to none. Ascent took 4.5 hours, with juicy breaks along the way, from Yellow Pinch carpark to East Peak.
As a note for future trips, Logans could be used as a quicker but more difficult descent than South-East Ridge. If fatigue is creeping on, it perhaps wouldn't be a quicker option while ensuring a safe descent, so South-East or Peasants should be used." — jameshohl • Jun 20, 2022
"Eagles Ridge, Mt Barney solo. Tested out time estimates for the 10-peaks day and was seeing where my fitness was at. Only new ground I covered was an attempt on the Comino-Waring Ledge of Leaning Peak.
After scrambling up onto the start of the ledge, there was a few metres of tricky exposed scramble followed by a short section of poor grip rock that had been smoothed out by water. Onward was slightly easier going, with safe platforms to rest on and a line of vegetation which was quite soothing in between me and the sheer drop into nothingness a few metres to my right. Nearing the far side was another tricky scramble across a narrow 1.5m ledge where a fall would certainly be my last. On a lichen-covered surface, I put some weight on a crimp only for it to crumble off and tumble into the void—and with it my faith in any nearby holds. Taking a moment to calm myself, I then shimmied over to a nest-like flat platform bordered by a sturdy bush, which I sat in with my feet dangling out. Immediately past this was a vertical wall of 8–10m climbing and although there were plenty of holds I was not going to attempt this without a rope, so I turned back.

"Very tough climb. We had a very hot October day to conquer the peak and I recommend to climb it in winter. We had a GPS tracker so we didn't loose ourselves and we use it few times to make sure we going in the right direction. Took us 9h40min to come back. SE up and South Ridge down.
I will come back one day, but need to forget first how hard it was 😂" — Asha • Oct 3, 2021
"Due to a bushfire, our trip to the Upper Portals via Monserrat Lookout was not possible. So after a bit of checking campers at Waterfall Camp site were aware, we decided to do Barney instead. Went up the Peasants Ridge only to Rum Jungle. Then down and back the same way. Was my co-hikers first time up Barney and she said she is hooked now and wants to do it again ASAP. Beautiful weather, though smoke from the bushfire made the views rather hazy." — donizen • Sep 10, 2017
"Even though we were hiking by 7:20am, the extremely hot and humid January day made the hike a challenge. I also got indigestion half-way up, which slowed me down a bit until it subsided after lunch. We saw lots of goannas and small lizards. Didn't see any snakes but we were sad to come across a cane toad. I nearly walked my face straight into a spider but thankfully no stings more serious than ants." — PeMai • Jan 10, 2017
