The gate was still closed, so I made the long walk from the winter parking lot to the Beaver Creek trailhead. The trail started with rolling snow drifts, but became mostly dry by treeline. I passed three trail runners on their way down and was thankful that their footsteps would help pack the trail in the trees. From there, I only crossed a few small snowfields before the summit. I had originally planned to continue to Paiute Peak, but storms were already forming so I headed back. I went over Notabon on my way back and used the trail runner's post holes to get back to the trailhead with mostly dry feet.
