"Warm, low 60’s, very light breeze, blue skies with lost of visibility. Could see The Isle of Shoals to the east and Mt Washington to the west. Parts of an old ski lift are still standing." — dennisboothby • Apr 10, 2021
"Beautiful day for a hike yesterday. It was busy, but they did not run out of parking at the base. Trails as usual in excellent condition. Buildings closed because of COVID-19. We used the Blueberry Trail for part of our ascent--steeper and shorter, and less busy, than the usual route. Huge summit area with observation decks allows for views in all directions. Fantastic view of the Cape Neddick area. " — Badgerinmaine • Sep 12, 2020
"First time exploring this York ME high point area after an afternoon of checking out lighthouses in southern Maine. I was amazed at the plethora of trails! Glad I took a picture of the trail map because I didn't want to just walk the road up and down. Nice views all around but it was quite overcast and all the observation areas were stupidly closed (due to the coronavirus) so I will be back in better conditions." — SteveM_StickMan • Jun 2, 2020
"A Walk for Wendy hike with the friends and family of Wendy. About 100 people there. I chose to hike up the side of the mountain before doing the walk with the group. I was invited to lunch afterwards by the family and allowed the honor of sitting at the family table. " — newenglandwarrior • Jun 16, 2018
" The final stop on a big loop through the park around this peak. Awesome views up here. 360 degrees of the NH mountains, the Maine coast, and the surrounding woods. Scenic. Lots of things to check out on the summit. " — mikewilliamsjr • May 3, 2017
"Beautiful day on "Big A." The warm temps mid-week had taken all the snow off the trails. There were some stretches of ice that were easily avoidable on the edges of the trails. Another great hike here as usual!" — HikeLikeMike • Jan 15, 2017
"Nice trip, great trails. I try to climb something each time I'm in Maine, and this was the closest to York Beach! Would have been an excellent day, but the bugs were busy. 40 miles of trails in this park - so there's lots to explore." — PJSelmer • Jul 24, 2014
"Jenn and I did this at night and had great views of the skies. I brought my small scope and we saw clear views of Jupiter with the storm bands as well as it's 4 Galilean moons. The moon was low on the horizon, so views of it weren't so clear, but interesting to look at anyways. Overall it was a perfect night of hiking, viewing, and conversation. "A great trip for fall foliage. As far as hiking, there is quit the maze of trails around mount A. it seemed, fortunately the rewards are amazing at the large summit. The trails are pretty dull by hiking standards and the hike to second hill was uneventful and rather long for lack of views granted it's only 555 feet! Though not a complaint! the area offers great views and is a huge swath of undeveloped land in southern Maine! I will be back to check out other trails around big A!" — tvanrosendael • Oct 6, 2012
