"Sept5/22 Wow, Can you believe this, Atop of Adam's fire tower 3520ft via the Adirondacs which is posed to have the best views of the western high peaks and completely socked in lol, Hiking in the clouds at its best. Trails in great conditions, little mud but a drizzly rain kinda day hiking with cool like minded hiker Corny Connie, Finished our day drying out and visiting a couple of interesting shops, I will be back for the views. Do what inspires you #27/32" — ramjet1963 • Sep 5, 2022

"Trail could use some maintenance. No markers for quite a while. Bridge was pretty scary. Muddy below. Some spots could use another board or two. The ledges were wet and very steep. It was quite beautiful though and the 360 view at the top of the tower was awesome!!! A lovely trail. Saw a couple of moose tracks. Quite large and recent. They were obliterated by other hikers when we came down." — melaniehaskell • May 23, 2022

"Was muddy in spots and ledges had water running down so had to be careful . Mud on the steep part was slippery . It is a pretty area. Trails could use some work. Young people don't have trouble but my sister and I at 6o and 70.. Found it a tough hike . 8 hour hike but we take our time and rest a lot.. And don't forget the bug spray ." — sarahlaustrup • May 23, 2022

"Tom. Black and I left the East River trailhead at 9:46 under blue skies with 14" of fresh powder with a 5-10 mph wind @ +5 degrees. I was happy to see the parking lot plowed and three vehicles there. That meant the trail was broke. However that joy quickly faded at the trail junction of Adams and Allen. The trail meanders through the lower lands and then abruptly gains altitude. Black broke trail most of the way to the summit. It was difficult to say the least to keep traction on the steep face in the deep powder. Summited about noon. Views from the tower cabin were amazing but brutally cold! Took pics and quickly descended. The trip down the mtn was more like skiing than snowshoeing. We literally rode waves of snow down the mtn. What a blast! Returned to the car about 2:15. Beautiful winter day but pretty tiring! Still temps hovering 10 degrees.

"This was another adventure with hiking mates. We had very nice weather. It was cold but sunny and no wind. The group was fairly slow, I suspect like myself most of us are in "winter shape". Snowshoeing is decidedly harder than hiking. I took some nice pictures from the firetower. There was a nice view of Algonquin, and I think Marshal next to it. Dreaming of summer hikes like the one I did up Algonquin. The snow was quite high on top, 4-5 feet. It will be a muddy spring in the Adirondacks for sure! Did some butt sliding on the way down which was fun but cold and wet. I went down in microspikes; still felt like a long way down. Was good to be back out there. Did I mention I'm dreaming of summer?" — bethmorgan • Feb 23, 2019

"Beautiful cool clear day for a hike. The first mile is a walk in the park...the scramble to the top is steep! Shocked to see the fire tower as we were still in the woods. Plan for a long slow hike. Well worth it for the views from the fire tower." — pawsalot • Sep 19, 2018

"Awesome hike with the views from the tower incredible. It feels like you could almost reach out & touch Mt. Marcy. The
suspension bridge over the Hudson River was also a highlight. One, if not my favorite, fire tower hikes. " — billsussdorff • Jul 26, 2017

"Had the trail and tower all to myself. Very steep, rocky, and full of roots the last 1.6 mile of the trail. Great view of Mount Marcy, Colden, Santanoni Range and Lower Great Range. " — scottturner • Aug 28, 2016

"Trailhead was easy to find, & not too far from home. The new-ish bridge over the Hudson was super cool. Trail was very steep & slightly snowy / icy about halfway through the ascent. Firetower only had a couple of windows in it and the wind was really ripping it was cooold! Beautiful view though, great hike!" — kellieirene • Nov 16, 2015

"Second time up Adams - this time the weather was perfect. The first 0.7 miles of trail is relatively flat and includes some fun crossing the Hudson River, walking along some beautiful marshes and seeing the old caretakers cabin. Shortly after the cabin you hook a left into the woods and the fun climbing begins. A few steep sections over the next 1.5 miles bring you to the summit where there is a great view from the fire tower. 4.5 miles RT with roughly 1800' of gain." — deb-and-rob • Oct 24, 2015
