"From the Hoare hut, across Waaihoek and along the long ridgeline to the Twins. Then down the grueling Northern slope to the Winterberg Inn. A very big and difficult decent due to constant bundu-bashing which I would not recommend. Have a look at the link below to the video for the best perspective. "Alan, Stefan and I set out from the UCT parking at the bottom of mostershoek. The first part of the hike was hell, as we made our way through immensely thick fynbos, with no path. We finally made our way to the more rocky spine of one of the foothills and continued up towards green gulleys. We had lunch just below the rock scree and continued up at a good pace. We made our way to the top of green gullies. We dropped our heavy packs and took a day pack to the summit. We took in the breathtaking views and went back down to an amazing grassy patch in the high fynbos at about 1900m altitude with amazing views of Ceres and beyond. We spent the night here in amazing weather and descended back down first getting to the main ridge between mostershoek twins and Waaihoek and then took a gulley down near the centre of the ridge back down towards where we parked.
It's a big day out, a really tough climb, and we required some serious amounts of snacks to keep the bodies going all the way up and down. It's a truly rewarding hike though. Involves very rugged terrain, some difficult scrambling in sections and good shoes, as there is no path from start to finish. " — Willowskid08 • Mar 7, 2020
