"A Short Easter trip to Braemar. In the last week, the daytime temperature had dropped 20c and there had been 6ins of snow, earlier in the week, followed by heavy rain, which had washed much of it away. We set off on a cool cloudy day from a minor road near Loch Kinord. The route took us past a derelict farmhouse with good views, that was now only occupied by crows. We went SW up a stalkers path, to a col by Roar Hill, we then picked up a track that took us NW upon to the summit ridge, past some rocky outcrops onto the summit. Here we enjoyed good views east to the Cairngorms, SE to Lochnager, 1155m and south to Mount Keen 939m. We returned along the east ridge and down steeply to our starting point" — davidlong • Apr 8, 2012
"Drove to Boultenstone and minor roads to Hillockhead. Solo. Finding nowhere to park I went back nearly a mile and parked. I left car, but after a short while I realised I had left my ice axe behind. Went back for it and set off for second time. Walked to road end and continued on track SW. Followed path roughly south - the path as marked on 1:50,000 first edition map. Path little used. After a short distance blocked by fallen trees, but forest track soon reached. This was not shown on my map, must have been the continuation of my original track and went in right direction so I followed it. Tree felling in progress. At end of forest climbed a fence and crossed river to join another track which was followed S towards Morven. Track ended so struck up hillside to reach summit of Morven." — peter43 • Feb 7, 2005
