Did this alone with a guide only. The decision to do Morrao was only made when I realised just how close we would pass to it on our way to Aguas Claras. I was told it would take 2 and a half hours to cover the 7km to AC which was a laughable estimate given that was how long it took to summit a similar distance to the top of Morrao. From the beginning of our descent to arriving at AC, maybe 4.5km-5km it took about 1 hour and 25 mins. We stayed at AC for 1 hour and 40 minutes and it took us around 1 hour and a half to get back to the start of the hike. All up it was 7 and a half hours, and I'm 46 years old and in no way the fittest bad boy out there. We kicked off at 9:30am and moved quickly as I had no idea what I was really getting myself into. If you left the start point at 8:30 you could really do both Morrao and AC comfortably in 9 or so hours with plenty of time at the top and a good hour or so at AC. Admittedly we were literally jogging at times, Two Towers style, and would definitely do it slower if I had the chance again.

The guide told me that it was a rarity that anyone asked to go up there, and that he himself had not been up for 7 years, so if you get the chance go and do it. The day cost USD$80.00.
