On this insanely beautiful day, I hiked up cross-country up the slope from by the water towers at the east side of Monte Cristo Campground. I joined the firebreak on the west ridge, and joined the main ridge firebreak to the summit. It was a very short but very steep 700' gain from the campground. I ended up making the entire hike a loop by hiking to Iron Mtn #3 (5,040'+) very close by to the east and descending the fire roads back to the campground.
