"I had an incredible hike, going solo and reaching the hot springs by 10 am before attempting the summit. There was some lingering snow, but my ice cleats proved incredibly useful. Wearing running shoes would have been unsafe given the conditions. This mountain is a significant challenge for me as I typically stick to peaks under 3000m. Moving from Ha Ling to Mist Mount was a considerable leap, especially as my first solo summit. The hike was manageable, but I ran out of time and stopped just 500m from the summit. I'm planning to complete this hike in the summer of 2024 and considering inviting friends along for the fun. The trail had a mix of people; some were heading to the hot springs, while others near the summit were geared up with helmets due to loose rocks. It was an exciting and varied experience!" — trevorgoodram • Jul 24, 2023
"Lipsett > Mist > Mist Outlier > Eagle Ridge
A beautiful day to be climbing around on mountains in the Highwood area. We choose this route for the multiple peaks and hopes that we could find some good scrambling in lieu of scree bashing our way up Mist Mountain. Mission accomplished!
Approached from the south trailhead, parked at the Mist Mountain trailhead (500m east). We attempted a “shortcut” with a direct route through the trees to meet the main trail at treeline. Saved distance, but not sure about time and energy. From there we stayed in the main trail to Mt. Lipsett. After a quick summit FaceTime with the kids, we headed to the Mist-Lipsett col to check out the ridge. We really enjoyed this part. The scrambling was on decent rock and very sustained for about 450m of elevation. Sure we could have bashed our way up a few loose gulleys, but there were many options to scramble a line to bypass. The summit of Mist had a great view of the adjacent ranges. The ridge to Mist’s SE outlier was straightforward. Descending to the valley was on loose terrain, but that made things go pretty quick when we found the occasional scree ski line. We planned to take a dip in the hot ..." — ivo • Oct 1, 2022
"Mist Mountain on a Wednesday. No difficulties. Some snow in the regular descent gully so we took the alternate and it worked just fine. Intentions to check out the hot spring after, but it was full of 20 something half-naked people with more on the way in! Opted to just not. Great day on a great mountain with great friends!" — hollywilliams • Aug 25, 2021
"Solo hike but lots of people out there. Made good time and got to the summit before lunch with plans to visit the springs on decent. Due to the good weather (and mobile reception) I decided to do the loop instead of out and back. Descended to lipsett which was more rubble/scree/routefinding than anticipated. Only stayed a few minutes at Lipsett and enjoyed the relaxed and meandering trail back to the highway. Happy to be finished 2 mountains under 7hrs." — MarkJPerkins • Sep 4, 2020
"13.8km with 1,628m gain
family relaxed outing with a stop at overcrowded hot springs.
messed with parking, so can be done shorter
helmet is the must due to going wrong direction AllTrail crowds" — alexp • Aug 8, 2020
"Fairly easy ascent through the alpine to the saddle and turnoff to the hot springs. Took the All Trails route up through the valley. Lots of fossils to look at on the way up. Slog up the scree to the summit (used the foot holes in the snowpack for the second half). Incredible views on the summit. Warm and no win up top. Took the same way down. Scree ski into the valley and easy going down. Great trek!

"Access via south side pass between Mist Mountain and a nameless ridge sometimes called Eagle Ridge, traversed a steep sparsely vegetated hillside, up a long scree valley on the south side, then up slabs on the south side to a false summit, over to the true summit, and down a southwest scree run into the scree sloped valley. Then returned down the way we came.
Our trip did not use the Alan Kane route." — geoffc • Jul 13, 2019
"Descent out easy South East slopes. Some awesome glissades to be had. Snowstorms blowing by north and south of us all day, had to leave the summit quickly because one was coming our way. Another group had to turn around shortly after we passed them on descent. Stopped at the hot springs just to see them, not very warm and weather was to bad to enjoy them. "Through the drainage to Lipsett col. After toiling with the synclines I came out on the SE face and walked to the top. There was little (insignificant) snow). It was breezy and somewhat cold on the way up. It warmed up on the way down. Went back to Lipsett col." — BertB • Oct 22, 2015
