"The hang gliding launch point is really cool! It was windy with a bit of a bite to the wind as we wandered around the summit area of Mingus Mountain, but I'm glad we did so. We had just hiked Woodchute Mountain and I wanted to go see the view from Mingus. Quite a nice view, to say the least! Finding the "high point" was interesting, and I'd disagree with where Peakery indicates it is, but that's okay. I realized that this was my 35th birthday weekend, and it wasn't exactly the "birthday peakbagging bonanza weekend" I've had the previous 2 or 3 years, but that's okay. I'm... thinking through a lot of things, and determining my priorities right now. And I'm contemplating the loss of my beloved Uncle just over a month ago, whom I lost to pancreatic cancer (diagnosis in May, died on September 1), and it's... it's all a lot. And that's okay. I still was outside and hiking and I'm still me, even if it's not the full on peakbagging experience I've done in previous years. " — psychikingjes • Oct 8, 2022
"Since I’m staying in Cottonwood for a while I decided to make this mountain my training peak. Today I started at the summit lot and hiked down the North Mingus Trail to about 6,540 feet. Accidentally took a spur trail on the summit Mesa which added almost 2 miles to my day and an extra 100 feet of elevation gain. Good day in all. " — MtnGeek • Jul 1, 2020
"Did the North Mingus Loop hiked it clockwise. Hot heading down and finish in the shade. Clockwise is the best way to do it. Needed an earlier start.
The summit on the map is misplaced. Looks like the actual summit hang glider take off ramp. Made a me wonder if the summit is slightly higher than what the official elevation says. " — MtnGeek • Jun 27, 2020
