"Arizona P2K (30/73). Little bit of everything on this one, great views at the top and all the way up. Waterfalls. A nice trail to follow, until it's time to cut off it and start heading up towards the peak with some fairly tedious bolder hopping. Trying not to step in the water (not always successful), some bushwhacking but thankfully not as much as I was expecting. One thing I wasn't expecting and really should was the snow but it wasn't too much of an issue and made getting down just a little bit faster. Sliding down the mountain like socks on carpet.
I was also surprised how far you could see from the summit on this one. Could make out some peaks all the down around Tucson and the very snow capped Humphrys Peak in Flagstaff very clearly." — matty44m • Apr 8, 2023
"A friend and I hiked the Barnhardt trail about 4.6 miles to a drainage, then took that up. We could have gone a little further on the trail to a larger drainage, but our route wasn't too bad. The vegetation wasn't as bad as it is made out to be, but perhaps we just took a better route. We spent about an hour on the summit while my buddy activated the peak by making several radio contacts locally and nationally. We took the larger, main drainage down, but had to skirt a larger pour off. Had we gone this way up, it may have taken us just as long to get around it anyway. The views from the summit and along the hike were great." — ZachTeich • Oct 1, 2020
"Took the YBar trail, then climbed/bushwhacked through a seemingly never-ending series of manzanita and thorny bristles to the summit. Went down south side (?), scrambled/bouldered down gully/ridge, then took the Barnhardt trail back to trailhead." — karenmccann • Jan 13, 2018
"Got a late afternoon Start to begin with was the First Mistake. Took Barnhardt Trailhead and ended up on the Ridge climbing over Deadwood and Rocks to reach the peak at 6:30 PM. Had to get down the fasted way possible so I took Suicide Ridge which was another bad idea coming down in the dark after much bush waking in the dark. Summary it is a great Peak if planned properly although a very long Hike no matter which way you go. " — Nuernberger • May 9, 2016
"4 hours to the top. Headed up the Barhardt Trail and left at the unmarked junction below 6566' and headed up a sub ridge of Suicide Ridge. A bit brushy but not too horrible. Great views on top to Sedona, Flagstaff, the Mogollon Rim, Four Peaks and the Superstitions. Met a great couple roadtripping the US from Bend, OR at the summit, who took the North Ridge and said it was horrible with thorns, and descended Suicide Ridge with me. Enjoyed a beer with them at the trailhead before heading home.
