"Sixth peak of a six pack that day. Cross-country over from Shirley (and Jean). Easy final ascent from the saddle. The real work came after the climb, bushwhacking and pathfinding manzanita trying to get back to a trail.
Part of a group of peaks done in a loop: Cornell, Folly, Newton Drury, Jean, Shirley, and Marion." — JustinB • Jul 13, 2018
"Holy cow, this was an awesome climb to the summit block! I'm not a rock climber, so this was a challenge for me. I'm so glad I went all the way up...what an incredible rush. Definitely one of my favorite peaks so far!
This was the fifth peak of a six-peak day, on an HPS hike led by the Doggetts. It was a big group, 22 people, and around a dozen or so of us made that ultimate climb to the top of the summit block (not all at once, of course)." — HikerMark • Jun 14, 2014
"After hitting San J. Folly, Miller, Jean, and Newton Drury we cross country traversed through the snow to the top of Marion Mountain. #27 of my 100 in 2014 goal. What an awesome view and awesome trip this was. We went stright down east to the wellmans divide trail and took that back to camp at Strawberry Junction. Hiked out on the deer springs trail in the moonlight to conclude this trip." — 1-with-Nature • Apr 7, 2014
"(The photo used above to depict Marion & used in the summit badge looks to me to be a photo of Divide & Landells Peaks taken from Cornell Peak.) Coming down from the peak, almost back to the switchbacks that lead back up to Wellman Divide, I slipped and quickly slid into a small boulder and hurt my leg. I thanked the Lord that I didn't break it. That would have made for a lousy b-day. (I did climb to the top of the summit block with my Osprey pack on.)" — thesearcherextraordinaire • Nov 3, 2012
