"A hike for Molly to finish her Belknap 12. We parked in the Major trailhead and headed off to Straightback first. Then we went over to Anna, then Mack. We went down to Round Pond, then up to Klem, then onwards to Rand. We hit both peaks of Quarry. Then on to Straightback, then Major for the finish. We came down the Boulder Tr back to the car. "We finished up Redlining the Belknaps by completing the Dave Roberts Quarry trail. So we celebrated with a big loop hike peak-a-palozza hitting W. Quarry, Rand, Klem, Mack, Anna and E. Quarry. Beautiful blue skies, great day to be out in the Belknaps." — Alohabuffy • Apr 2, 2022
"Hiked Mack, Klem and Rand in the same hike. Reed Road and up Old Clough. Old Clough was easy. Hiking Rand was the most challenging. No summit views on any of these peaks. There were views between Rand and Klem and Between Klem and Mack. Very limited views just off the summit cairn on Mack. Chilly start at 37 degrees. Finished at 55 degrees. Very sunny. Light breezes at times. 6.5 mile hike for a 6 year old was challenging." — GreggC • Sep 19, 2020
"Arrive before 8 a.m. Sunny with no wind and about 20 degrees. Not enough snow for snowshoes with lots of bare ground on road above parking area. Put on micro spikes just in case. At point where red blazed trail departs the road and into the woods, snow was a little deeper but with a well frozen crust. No potholing to speak of except through a couple of hemlock groves where the sun couldn't reach the trail. All water crossings were running well but all were an easy step over or rock hop. Last 0.3 miles below the summit was steeper and the snow melt had refrozen making for long stretches of ice. Could probably walk around but micro spikes allowed easy climb. At summit, was hit by a snow squall and wind picked up so headed back down via the truck road. No snowmobiles due to large patches of bare dirt on the road. Actually saw absolutely nobody all morning. " — rjnick • Feb 29, 2020
"Left the parking lot at Camp Bell around 8:30. Temperature was 17 degrees but wind was whipping at 30-40 mph, making the wind chill -7 degrees. Used snowshoes to break traill on newly fallen powder. Some areas had a breakable ice crust layer which made going slow. Turned around prior to reaching Round Pond." — rjnick • Feb 8, 2020
"Left the parking lot at Camp Bell around 8:30. Temperature just above freezing. Put on snowshoes but they weren't really needed for the first part of the trip, up the Old Stage road. Snow on road was not deep and packed down by snowmobiles. Turned up the red trail which also follows a snowmobile road. The red trail split off into the woods after about 1/2 mile and this trail was totally unbroken and snow was deeper. At one point, I could push my poles almost a foot deep. Snow was now starting to soften as the temperatures climbed and took some nice pictures of Sweet, Piper and Belknap Mountains at the point where the red trail follows some ledges. Saw lots of tracks.....deer, moose and I assume coyote. Exentually made it to Round Lake but was starting to drizzle and breaking all of the new trail was tiring so decided to ghead back along the road, Met some nice snowmobilers who talked to me about their sleds. Will return on a day without the weather pressure to complete hike to the summit." — rjnick • Jan 25, 2020
"A loop hike to close out my Belknap 12. Good hike. Picked up 17 ticks and killed all of them. Not the greatest views on these mountains, but there were a couple here and there." — newenglandwarrior • Jun 28, 2019
"Nice hike from the parking lot off Wood rd. Hiked to round pond, then took loop over both Klem and Mack. Back at pond hiked out same route came in. Still snow and ice in most places!" — blackwolf_03278 • Apr 14, 2019
"Great day out in the Eastern Belknap Range. Loop hike starting from the Mt Major trailhead and hitting the following peaks: Mt Major, Straightback Mountain South Peak, Mount Anna, Mount Mack, Mount Klem, Mount Rand, West Quarry Mountain, East Quarry Mountain, Straightback Mountain North Peak." — kpreston21 • Apr 28, 2018
"First of 10 summits reached on my 12 mile loop hike across the interior peaks of the Belknap Mountain Range. Awesome day for a hike with beautiful weather and serenity abounded with not one human encounter the whole trip; which is usually a rare occurrence for me. " — DPGobleJR • Oct 20, 2013
