"With some time off work, I thought I'd head to the mountains and sneak in an easy one today before I had to run errands and cook dinner. I had never done Lusk Ridge! There was snow, which sucked, and my feet got wet. I listened to some music out loud on my phone on the way up to discourage any wildlife from hanging out... a bear had been out along the lower "trail" while I was higher up and left a gift right where I had been, so I made noise on the way down. I only saw birds, thankfully, as I was out solo. The snow became isothermal and started balling on my traction, so I spent a good chunk of the descent walking a few steps, then kicking it off. Why can't it be warm and dry? I am annoyed with this shit." — leigh-annewebster • Jun 17, 2024
"24.6km loop with 1,455m gain in 7:10hrs.
A bit windy at open spaces, almost no snow (as usual in the foothills & front ranges).
Solo, in complete solitude.
The best time to do it though in late October or November: no leaves, and no or almost no snow, Powderface trail is still open for traffic. Better to do with 2 cars, or at least a bike. Otherwise it'll be a long 7 km walk. Or half walk, half run - a bit faster, but feels long anyway. " — alexp • Dec 23, 2018
"After bushwhacking up Lusk Ridge West, we traversed over. There was a lot of snow and we postholed through 2 ft of snow for probably an hour. We called it good after this high point. It was getting later in the day and we were getting tired." — BertB • Apr 28, 2018
