"From parking west of Darling How up forestry track taking left about one mile in. Up side of long wall through and at back of initial forest, then gradually ascending. Made the walk circular by visiting Broom Fell, the Graystone tops and Kirk Fell. Descended from Graystone, very steep and long. Original plan was to ascend from here. Pleased I didn't." — vygodski • Jul 8, 2020

"Walked from the Spout Force car park and back with Joanna and Trish. Nice walk. It's a shame that there were no views at the summit though. It was like pea soup. Managed to get back before it got dark and started raining. " — DAB81 • Jan 6, 2019

"Day 3 of a walking holiday at Bassenthwaite. A dull morning started with thick cloud on the higher hills, so we decided on a traverse of some of the lower hills in NW Lake District. Starting at a car park at the W end of Whinlatter pass, we dropped down to Scawgill bridge near Spout Force waterfall, then walked up the steep slopes of Graystones adjacent to the forest wall, at about 350m we traversed to the adjacent lower summit of Kirk Fell (Lorton). The clouds lifted. We continued our walk onto the neighbouring hills of Graystones, which has 2 summits. To continue our traverse of these low hills, we then descended NE, then E over Widow Hause to Broom Fell. On the summit is a magnificent cairn and stone shelter with seat. After the summit we continued to Lords Seat 552m. Here we had good views back along the traverse. We descended the SW ridge, then down through a narrow forest path, over streams and head high vegetation back to the main track to the start point." — davidlong • Aug 29, 2017

"Continuation of walk from Broom Fell. Followed the ridge south-east and up to the summit. Then onwards to Ullister Hill before descending by a boggy path and then forest road back to Darling How. Cloudy, with a strong south-west wind, but remained dry. With DB and BC." — marktrengove2 • Dec 10, 2016
