"An afternoon and evening round of Edale Head, from the car park at Barber Booth. Took the lane up the dale to Lee Ho, then Jacob's Ladder up to the col. Followed the flagstone path up to the trig point on the summit of Brown Knoll 569m/36m. Then continued SSE on the flagstone path across the moor, and east on a good track up to the summit. Continued on to Mam Tor. Some misty sunshine at first, but then clouding in on a strong south-west wind, although above the summits. Solo." — marktrengove2 • Mar 28, 2017
"Left Yorkshire Bridge at 0615 and ended up in a pub at Castleton at 2030 ; blisters put paid to our plans to complete the full Derwent Watershed round out of the all time classic guide book “The Big Walks” by Ken Wilson and Richard Gilbert" — davidb • Aug 20, 1987
"Leeds University Outdoor Activities Course party. Walked from Castleton Y. H. via Winyards to Mam Tor. Then via Rushup Edge, Brown Knoll to Kinder Low (2077 feet). Then walked along edge of plateau to Kinder Downfall. The wind was so strong that it blew the water of the waterfall up into the air. Walked across the plateau to Edale. Very powerful wind, mist and hail. Descended by Crowden Beck to Upper Booth and along the road to Edale Y. H." — peter43 • Feb 11, 1961
