"From the parking area, the trail begins a few steps onto the road, where the hike continues behind a metal barricade on the right. The trail appears to be an old power line utility road that is in rough shape. It follows the power lines in a relative straight line for over a mile. A summit use trail appears to the left, which goes up to the peak. It becomes a bit of a boulder scramble when approaching the summit. Great views from the top. Made a wrong turn on the way back, which added some mileage to the numbers." — MikeTeeples • Nov 23, 2023
"Even though it had rained the previous night, and looked like it was going to start a shower for most of the hike, we took a chance on a new trail. Started out about 2pm and the peak was covered by clouds. Only saw three other people on the trail, so we had the day to ourselves. Glad I had gloves for the boulder scrambles. Over all, we did the 5.5 mi/1,610 ft of elevation gain in around three hours. Great way to spend a Sunday" — erinfetters • Mar 20, 2022
"This was a 6.65 mile hike with 1995 feet of elevation gain starting from the staging area at Pine Valley Road. There is a new trail now that makes this a much easier hike than when you used to have to bushwhack, but it still is plenty steep in parts. Temps got plenty hot later in the day, but I got up and down again by 1100. I was Geocaching and stopped for 19 caches along the way (FTF x 7), so my moving/total time is not very impressive (2:47/3:39). Great hike, though, and LOTS of other caches nearby on the Bear Valley Loop and Corral Canyon." — FlagMan • Jun 29, 2013
