"The main goal of this one was to tick off a missed Nuttall from 2 years ago. My acclimatisation to the heat isn't very good, so I was pretty uncomfortable on this one, well, that and the blisters on my feet from previous days. I couldn't seem to get the boots laced in a way that prevented heel lift, and slight friction, despite being the same La Sportiva boot I've had before with no issues. Looks like they need to win a few more battles to get worn in. This one was going to be an out-and-back, until I changed my mind and decided to try to 'loop' down off Gallt yr Wenallt, where the trail essentially ends. I then aimed for the copper mine ruins and descended down through two 'levels' before joining up with the trail that leads back to the waterfalls at the start of the Watkin Path. Care needs to be taken in the copper mine ruins, very loose scree, and a ridiculous deep hole in the ground - you'd never be found if you fall in there after throwing a 'test' rock and waiting for the bottom!" — adventure-stricken • Jul 18, 2026
"Parked in Nant Peris, got bus to Pen-y-Pass (the parking there is now only pre-booked, and very pricey), along miner's track and then south from lake, climbing steeply to this. Then on to Y Lliwedd and back same way. " — vygodski • Aug 25, 2022
"Completed as the final peak of the Welsh 3-peaks. Choose a silly route considering, very tough assent as connected to the Watkins path from the horseshoe, but lost the path near the summit and cut straight up the edge in the absence of a path. Took the miners path down like sensible people!" — olliemartin • Jun 25, 2022
"With a party from the CHA Guest House at Llanfairfechan. By coach to Pen-y-Pass. Snowdon horseshoe over Crib Goch, Crib y Ddysgl, Snowdon, Y Lliwedd, Y Lliwedd East Top and Lliwedd Bach. After descending from the final top to Llyn Llydaw it was discovered that one member of the party was missing. Some of us formed a search party and went back to look for him. It was not long before we found him and all was well." — peter43 • Sep 7, 1959
