"1.11.2021~Lizard Head, Back & Tail Traverse via Canyon Point Mesa Highpoint Summit and Traverse. Black Canyon Wilderness, NV. Solo. 7.5 miles, 4:42hrs. My route may be stupid and hard but I did 2 recon trips and this is what I came up with. If you want something better, figure it out yourself. I learned of this peak/point of interest from my Friend Laszlo. He climbed it years ago with his friend Chris M. and he didn’t quite remember the actual approach route so I did 2 separate recon trips to figure out the puzzle. Recon trip #1 was Boy Scout Canyon. This route drops substantially below the peak and seemed to lead to cliffs that guard the summit so I gave up that option. On that trip I didn’t realize I was looking up to a giant broad Mesa. (Canyon Point Mesa) It looked like a knife edge ridge! There could be an ascent gully to the Lizard Saddle from BSC but I may not have gone down the canyon far enough find it. Recon trip #2 was to drop down from Canyon Point Mesa (from Boulder City). It was good and I found a “reasonable” gully to avoid the treacherous down-climb to the Lizard Saddle from the Northern nose of the Mesa. It was steep, loose and had class 3+ sections.
