"From the parking lot in Lopez Canyon Park, I picked up the trail. It starts out as a road but quickly gets reduced to a single track trail leading NE into the mountains. Later, the road intersects the dirt Kagel Canyon Road and continues going into the mountains. At a point on the map known as "Kagel Divide", there is a helicopter landing platform (which resembles a giant thread spool). I got off the road here and picked up a use trail that begins climbing Peak 2806. The summit gets reached with little difficulty. Meanwhile, the booming from the nearby gun club got louder with every step continuing on to Limerock Peak. Long pants came in handy when navigating the slightly overgrown pathway leading to and up Limerock Peak. There were some short steep sections leading to the top, including one false summit. I didn't hang around long, since it probably wasn't the wisest place to be on a day when the gun range was so active, but as it turned out, it was all just far away noise. No shade on this trip, which makes it a good place to visit on a cool winter day. 5 mile hike with 1,100 foot gain." — MikeTeeples • Feb 14, 2021
