"2nd time I've climbed up the face of the rock, but the first time to actually stand on top. What a wonderful piece of Granite, truly. We hiked up the climber's trail, broke off to traverse to the base of White Maiden's walkway, then climbed the route with a couple variations. The Gaines guidebook says we may have done "Maiden's Direct". It was fantastic, but I was SUPER cold on the first pitch. I couldn't feel my fingers! Got better after that but the wind really picked up. Our summit shots just show us squinting against the wind. We may have gotten the last climb up White Maidens before the snow moved in. The very next day, there was 10" of snow on top." — benjineer • Nov 6, 2020
"Outstanding climb and my first multi pitch in California. Did the Trough 5.4 in 3 pitches and scrambled the rest to the top. Did not enjoy the loose HPS trail down.... Looking forward to coming back for more classics. Complete TR: https://TheMtsAreCalling.com/thetrough" — Christopher • Aug 24, 2018
"On Day 2 of a 2 day back pack in the San Jacinto Mountains we had just Come down from Tahquitz Peak and are a little ways down the South Rim Trail, its here that we cut off the switch backs and head cross country along the North west slope of Tahquitz to the South base of Lily Rock. We had a great time finding the way to and up the rock, THis was certainly one of the funnest cross country / climbs I have done. The Top has sweet views and the expose at the edge is pretty damn wicked all the way around.
On our way down the South Rim Trail we heard emergency Sirens which is the last thing we expected to hear up here. We didn't realize what that was about until we turned a corner and saw what was the begging of the Mountain Fire and it was right in the direction we needed to go and apparently heading right for us! We ran down the trail with our 30 pound packs right toward the thing hoping to beat it to the turn that lead us back north and away from the fire! we got pretty close to the smoke, too close for comfort but once we made the turn we couldn't see the smoke behind the ridge and the fire was burning in the other direction se we were good. When we got back to Humber Park we lo..." — 1-with-Nature • Jul 15, 2013
"Led 2 routes, one on the NE FACE, a 5.7 now, the other one called White Maiden's Way, now a 5.4. Listed as a 5.1 (hah) in original guidebook. Wore nothing but a swami belt with a bowline tied to it. Brought a small rack of pro. The exposure and views were wonderful." — tlannin • May 12, 1979
