"Laskey Mesa was my third and final peak of the day. It was good that it was saved for last, since it was a rather flat ascent. I didn't have to work so hard after completing a hefty climb in the morning. The peak is in the Upper Las Virgenes canyon Open Space Preserve. The preserve features rolling hills and old ranch roads. Laskey Mesa is one of the rolling hills. Unfortunately, the ascent is rather uneventful, since it is nothing more than a bump in the grass. The old pavement pad on top probably indicates that there was once a building on it, but it is long gone now. I could have continued forward to complete a loop in the preserve, but instead decided to return the way I came to pursue another peak later. However, once I got back to my car, I called it a day instead." — MikeTeeples • Feb 16, 2020
"Next day was the search for Cave of Munits, the possible home of the Chumash shaman. Legend says he killed the daughter of a powerful chief who spurned his love. An eagle was sent to exact justice and killed him. Was a beautiful, fog-free day and found the cave without problem. Hiked back through Laskey Mesa." — srphilip • Nov 17, 2011
