"The moderate and cold wind from the northwest has left the sky clear these days, temperatures have also dropped and intense snowfall has occurred in the Pyrenees. I approached the Picadera and the Cerro de los Siete Cucones in Cabo Tiñoso, the sea and the sky competed today to have the most intense blue. A gust of wind threatened to knock me to the ground so to eat I looked for an area protected by rocks to eat. During the route I saw
rosemary and lavender flowers that surprised me quite a bit in the month of December. When I returned I went to a nearby beach to watch the sunset" — franciscobirruezo • Dec 9, 2024
"Beautiful route in Cabo Tiñoso following the GR-92 trail from La Picadera towards the West to end in Cabezo de La Panadera. Blue sky and rough sea with moderate easterly wind. I can't find anyone else on the route this afternoon, I am surprised by the abundant flowering of rosemary, lavender and immortelle, perhaps it rained on the coast in recent weeks. The waves break strongly on the coast of La Azohia and from above you can hear the raging sea. Good views of Mazarrón Bay from here." — franciscobirruezo • May 21, 2024
"Today I am going to the Natural Zone of Cabo Tiñoso, the sea and the mountains meet here in this place that is full of disused military fortifications.
They can be visited and some even seem to be being rehabilitated.
At the top of the Picadera I have lunch inside a bunker while I wonder what the soldiers in charge of the place would eat in the fifties.
In the Atalayon the military buildings are neoclassical in style and with solid walls, they dominated the entire bay of Mazarrón and were almost impregnable places. The vegetation and numerous birds are now witnesses of these places that have been detained in time." — franciscobirruezo • Apr 15, 2023
"One more afternoon in the mountains, this time near Campillo de Adentro and the sea.
I first climb the Cerro de Los Siete Cucones, then La Picadera and almost setting the Sun, El Puntal de La Azohia.
I see some eagle near the military bunker but it takes its flight to see me.
The days are shorter now and night falls as I return home." — franciscobirruezo • Sep 26, 2019
"I have climbed this mountain from El Cerro de Los Siete Cucones. It has a stony path to the top (with pyramid shape).
From the summit there is a good view and I took opportunity to eat and watch anchored boats with the binoculars." — franciscobirruezo • Nov 26, 2017
