"Beautiful day out there . Took Kraft mountain loop trail and cut left where that first Boulder right on the trail is . Walked up the mountain it’s not bad getting up there . Then you do the traverse to the actual peak which is fun. No logbook that I found. Went down the back way then and connected it with calico trail to do turtlehead jr and Calico peak as part of the 100 peaks. Did calico hills on the way back and made it a nice loop. "Kraft Up & Over. I had taken this ascent route before, but not the descent down into Gateway Canyon. Matt, Erica, Henry, Kris, Amber & I all headed up the south gully to the summit. From there, Henry & Kris took a different way down, while the rest of us descended the north side of Kraft. We got cliffed out towards the bottom, but found a way down. This was a nice hike after not hiking for a while!" — Kevin • Nov 10, 2018

"11.9.18...The most Epic Mountaineering Day of My Life. 10.5 Peaks, 11 miles, 4,200’ gain, 8hrs of sustained scrambling, traversing all the Calico Ridges in Red Rock in their entirety with Horse Peak as an extra credit (out of the way) running finale. I failed at one of the exposed go around corners along the way but I hope Harlan forgives me for backing down on that one. I did most of the hard stuff but I have my limits. My hands are completely bruised and battered and my hips and glutes are scraped clean of many layers of skin from crawling through sandstone all day. Thank you Harlan for keeping me safe with hand lines and body parts. Thanks for going out (pre event) and scoping out the exact route and stashing water and Gatorade. I can’t believe how strong we are. My mind is blown!.....Calico South Peak, Calico Hills 1 Peak, Red Book Peak, Calico Hills 2 Peak, Calico Tanks Peak, Red Cap (and its twin Peak Turtle Head Jr.), New Peak, Kraft Peak, Big Bird Peak (east Kraft) & Horse Peak (Peak 3844). I’m calling this signature route, “The long way to Horse Peak”." — paula.raimondi • Nov 9, 2018

"Harlan took me on a thrill ride of a hike today! 5 miles and 2,000’ of adrenaline rush! I had some unfinished business with New Peak and then we traversed Kraft Mtn and all of its lumps and Blocks including Big Bird Peak, which we had no idea even existed. I was driving out of Calico after the hike and ran into Karl and Karla and went on part of their run for 5 more miles. It was a fantastic and memorable way to spend the last day of my 40’s. (Which is crazy because I’m only 39! Lol ....thanks Harlan!" — paula.raimondi • Feb 1, 2018

"Co-led for the Overweight Hikers meetup. Took an exploratory way from the saddle at Hell Hill Up. This was supposed to be the easiest way. Easy enough but took longer than expected. Came across a small tank of water to the west before the summit. Summit still has a dick cairn. Came down the established West Route. " — cardsfanlv • Dec 9, 2014

"Went with a small group for a morning scramble in Red Rock. Our group very quickly became 2 as one of our hikers hurt his ankle almost right away and had to turn back. I've hiked around this mountain several times but never up, so it was a bit of an adventure trying to find the route up the west face of the mountain. Pretty well cairned route, and after a couple class 3 moves near the beginning of the route, the rest was pretty straightforward. Some loose rock and lots of catclaw along the way, but nothing out of the ordinary. Was amused at the interesting construction of the summit cairn, as someone thought it would be funny to make it look like a penis. Signed the log, enjoyed the views of Red Rock. This is a very colorful summit, and it has a great view of Calico Basin, the Wilson Cliffs, Gateway Canyon, and Las Vegas in the distance. Its really cool to have a place like this so close to Vegas. A nice, short, enjoyable morning workout with fantastic scenery." — cardsfanlv • Sep 6, 2014
"Well I missed the 52ers but caught up with them once they returned to the Parking lot. Brought them some Muffins to make up for the Missed Hike. Nevertheless I hiked to the Peak myself since I have been there already. Great Hike and no People on the Trail anymore. So it was peaceful and quiet for a Sunday Hike in this area.
