"We started from Black Valley and climbed to Knocknapeasta from where we continued to the Big Gun and then over the ridge to Cruach Mhór and then to Cnoc an Bhráca before descending. The walk was roughly 12 km with 950 metres of ascent." — hannahaapio • May 19, 2018

"Continuation of route from The Big Gun. Eased over the bad step just south of the summit of The Big Gun, then easy scramble down a series of sandstone ledges to a narrow col. Then followed a path on a rising traverse on the east flank of the mountain to a grassy rake after the third pinnacle. Followed this steeply up to the summit. Continued to Maolan Bui. With KM and NP." — marktrengove2 • Jul 17, 2016

"Solo. From Carrauntoohil Youth Hostel. After Cruach Mhor I went along the ridge of Macgillycuddy's Reeks. This is at first a rocky scramble passing over Bearna Rua (3159') and Knocknapeasta (3190'). Continued to Caher and Carrauntoohil before descending to the youth hostel. Time: 7hr 50min. The weather was good. It was misty on and off on the summits." — peter43 • Jun 14, 1987
