"I hiked solo today. Planned on knocking out a couple from the junior ADK29 list. Kane being first. Left the trailhead at 7:20 and summited at 7:43. Beautiful blue sky views from the cabin of the open tower. 360 degrees of lakes and peaks. Had the tower all to myself. Returned to lot at 8:15 and headed north to Good Luck Cliffs." — garyogden • Jul 5, 2023
"Another of my favorites! Gentle hike, 3.76 miles, 659 feet of elevation gain. Red efts & so many awesome mushrooms, including a big flush of oysters & chicken of the woods! It was a very foggy day, so we didn’t get to see the view—we’ll have to go back!" — EmilyDoucet729 • Jul 13, 2021
"Impromptu trip to the ADKs working on the Adirondack Quest. Decided to hop up to Kane Fire Tower quick. Cabin is badly vandalized which made me very sad. The FFLA will be working on it tho starting hopefully in October. Bailey pup and I had fun. Trail was a river in some spots and very muddy, but we still had fun!" — Mousetek • Apr 17, 2021

5:58a I woke up at an un-godly hour, about 3am, just to go and pick up 2 of my friends and we started the hike before it was even light out. We just stopped because one of the friends didn’t want to go any further. She went back but we are pressing on.
6:12a First light. We are so close to the top of the mountain, sunrise is at 6:38a today we are gonna be cutting it close but I think we will make it.
6:23a We have made it to the top and are currently up in the firetower. It is so beautiful to see the sun rising over the horizon. I honestly love this view, it's one of my favorites to see. The wind is whipping and it is very cold up here but I don’t want to leave. The firetower is beautiful with the sun shining against it. I would love to spend the night up here or possibly even the rest of my life. My heart will always belong to Kane Mountain." — devenmosher24 • Feb 26, 2019
"Kane Mountain
February 9th, 2019
11:12a My adventure began at 10:46a this morning. I decided to go on a hike with the Adirondack Mountain Club up Kane Mountain. My first hike with anyone from the club so it was a bit awkward at first and I didn’t know exactly what to expect. I was expecting it to be a group of 12 and for them to all be mid 20s to late 30s. I was wrong. It was just 4 of us and I was the only guy and the only one under 50. I wasn’t complaining, they were obviously more experienced than I was and had great stories to share. Their names were Cris, Lori, and Nola. The eldest of them being Nola. When we started climbing Nola was going at a crawling pace, which is fine, everyone should move at whatever pace makes them comfortable, this was just a really big change from hiking with Francis and Eli who are ultra hikers and almost run up the mountain. I was content with going at whatever pace they wanted to but Lori pulled ahead and I followed with her. As we were pulling away from the group Lori made a joke about how Nola has hiked everywhere, even in Antarctica. I didn’t think much of it and thought she was joking. We just stopped for a moment to relax and take in t..." — devenmosher24 • Feb 9, 2019
"First of three peaks summited Today. Fire Tower #20 for me. This Mountain had been on the radar for quite some time now. Glad to have finally bagged it. Great short hike, but Today was a wet one. Had the trailhead, trails and summit all to ourselves !!" — HikingViking • May 19, 2018
"It has been a while since we've hiked a peak, so this short easy hike was perfect for today. The weather was cold but mostly clear. There was some ice and snow on the trail but it was easily avoided. The view from the top of the tower was nice with several lakes close by. " — mrs-beast-of-the-east • Nov 12, 2017
"Weather was great and sunny, set off on the trailhead. Made one incorrect turn as the trail split off early and we missed it by following the herd path. Discovered a small pond and a cabin, which determined the path was the incorrect one. But seeing the large number of salamanders converting in the pond, was a worth the side trip.
After backtracking we found the proper split, and the rest of the trip was uneventful to the top. Only one small portion of the trail, had any significant mud. The view at the top of the fire tower was good. A pleasant view of the lakes in the area.

"Hiked with Kim Stilson. Second firetower of the day. Super muddy trail but not a strenuous hike by any means. Weather had cleared up a bit, so we had a little bit of a view. Sad to see the Ranger cabin all beat up and full of trash. The area surrounding the tower would probably be lovely to hang out at in better weather. " — kellieirene • Dec 16, 2015
"Warm sunny day. We took the north trail, that was almost entirely empty. We had a little trouble finding the turn up the mountain and ended up in the Pine Lake RV park and had to go back and look. The turn is not marked at all and the North Trail has no more yellow markings after the turn. Keep your eyes open for it. The tower had great views of Pine and Canada Lakes." — Gregrog • Aug 16, 2015
