Walked up after rain. The somewhat neglected track was greasy but easy to follow. Enjoyed the rain forest with some good form podocarp trees, rata and hinau to keep this ex forester interested on the way to the summit. The bird life wasn't strong but there were plenty of grey warblers and a few wood pigeons about. Wild pig and goat sign was evident but I didn't sight any this trip. This area has lots of lime stone sink holes and caves. On the way down I detoured and looked at some caves. Most were too wet for me to be bothered entering!
