"Very rainy - we took the longer route up, and the steeper, shorter route down. With the vivid orange and yellow of the trees against the dark evergreens, the view was breathtaking." — wendyhunt • Oct 11, 2014
"5 mile hike. The day started out with nice weather - clear and sunny. I wasn't sure if we would make it to the top as I saw a trip report from a week earlier with a photo of the Beacon Ridge trail sign still half buried in snow. So when I saw another trail heading up the ridge from the Kachess Ridge trial I decided to explore it to at least get some hiking in. Much to my surprise, this ended up being the south approach to Beacon Ridge summit although it doesn't show on any of my maps or appear in any of the trip reports I've read. When we reached the top there were a couple hikers already there that were looking for Easton Ridge but had gotten turned around (they weren't too unhappy to find out where they were as it was a good hike). After they left we had a little lunch and when we were done another couple walked out of the woods from the north approach. After chatting with them for awhile I decided to head down the north side and make a loop hike of it. The hike down the Beacon Ridge trail was no problem - a couple of small snow fields but found my way thru them without losing the trail. But back down on the Kachess Ridge trail was another story - a snow field about 1/2 mile long..." — mtnhiker • Jun 25, 2012
