"The trail started rough — a big washout and barely walkable footing before it turned into a steep fire road climb. As the sun came up over Bouquet Reservoir around 7am, the views opened up and made the grind worth it. A couple false summits kept me honest, so I just took it slow and steady.
I could’ve pushed on to Juno Peak. It honestly wasn’t that steep. But I wasn’t in the mood to force it. I’ve got the sniffles and my head’s been busy with apartment hunting, so I listened to that and called it where it felt right. Took a mellow trail back to the truck and enjoyed the morning instead of chasing mileage.
From the summit I could see a web of fire roads stretching across the range, and Mount McDill off in the distance — one I climbed last year. Always good to zoom out and keep perspective as the peak list grows. This one adds another check to the Sierra Club Lower Peaks list too. Sitting around 20% now.
Stopped through Green Valley on the way home. Cool little community, and there’s even a disc golf course tucked in there. Solid morning all around. Another peak in the books. Thank you universe 💋🫶" — bentalkington • Feb 9, 2026
"Made my long awaited return to Jupiter Mountain. On this occasion, I allotted myself enough time to complete both Jupiter and Juno. I also took the foot trail between the peaks to return to the parking area, thus forming a semi-loop hike." — MikeTeeples • Dec 5, 2021
"From the parking area, I ascended the trail to the left. This way is a short “no nonsense” climb to the top. I took a seat on the bench on the summit and quickly realized that I didn’t have time to continue on to Juno. Someday I will come back and do the loop hike to both peaks. LPC summit #63." — MikeTeeples • Jun 8, 2019
