"9/27/25: Fifth and final peak of the James Gang Traverse. Coming off the steep north slopes of Bancroft we were all starting to reach our end but knew we had one big task left. After boot sliding down the soft and loose snow/rock combo we regrouped to make the rocky scamper traverse across the saddle. This was probably the most interesting part of the traverse as there was some route finding and some fun little C3- moves that kept us engaged. After ascending out of the saddle via the loose, garbage-y schoss, we made the final slog up James to our ultimate objective and then down the CDT back to Loch Lomond and our awaiting shuttle vehicles. A big day that everyone was proud of and glad to be done, it was great to finally complete this one after being on my short-list for quite some time. Success is sweet!

"Excellent day, starting at St Marys Glacier at roughly 7:20. Had a comical moment on the way up when a group of kids standing on the glacier asked if they were going the right way to get to the glacier. " — LGH-Dan • Aug 4, 2018
"I approached James Peak from St. Mary's Glacier. It was a warm windless morning and I made great time. Good weather was expected all day so I planned a big hike including James Peak, Bancroft, Parry Peak, Pt. 11,704, Kingston Peak, and Fox Mountain." — WaxDr • Jul 30, 2016
"Jeeped into Loch Lomond the day before and set up camp. Bushwhacked up from the camp the next morning. Sunny at the top, but then a snowstorm blew in rather quickly and nearly froze us with about 30 minutes of blowing snow. It ended as quickly as it started, the sun returned and quickly warmed up." — scoutdawg • Jul 15, 1972
