"Modest elevation but still somewhat difficult hike. Routefinding is particularly difficult as the normal route is not signalled at all. It is also way overgrown and frequently interrupted by large landslides and exposed passages. Rarely anyone passes here.
Noteworthy for the abandoned mining village at the beginning but pretty dangerous overall. I saw that the mining site has an unprotected large mine shaft below one of the buildings; threw a stone there and it took like 10 seconds to hear it hit something. Scary to think how many wild animals probably die falling there each year or how adventuring kids could end up dead in such a trap. Climbing up, the terrain gets steep, disorienting and blocks you on small exposed ledges when there is the usual landslide that has destroyed the path. Beware unexperienced hikers as you could get lost or hurt easily. With good common sense and attention though nothing should happen.
After all this effort I was unlucky too, as it was a very foggy day and could not enjoy a great view from the summit." — nicadsardinia • Mar 30, 2024
"Beautiful hike, Onistri creek and its forest are breathtaking while the Funtana Cungiada's summit offers great views of the highest peaks of Sardinia. Nice refuge inside Onistri forest and we were lucky to catch many mouflons and hares roaming the slopes.
Heavy presence of cattle and many sections require jumping over fences/open closing small gates, however the herders there that placed them to keep the livestock safe are very friendly and nice." — nicadsardinia • Jan 12, 2024

"Nostalgia brought me back on this great mountain that offers a nice but tiresome climb.
Visited some old fellow who keeps a large collection of curiously shaped rocks at the beginning." — nicadsardinia • Oct 31, 2023
"Short hike to a panoramic minor summit. Went up to the starting point with a 4WD vehicle, the rest was an easy but steep climb to admire Punta Perda de sa Mesa in its winter mantle" — nicadsardinia • Jan 29, 2023
