"High Winds , low visibility , Straight vertical hiking . There was not much of walk / build up to the base , Fairly Rocky & Slippery . Views obstructed near the top by poor weather & fog enjoyed the physical & navigational side of the hike though." — Mark-Mountain-Sheehan • Dec 31, 2022
"Parked in the car park at Vee Gap (IS 03061 10021), crossed the road, and took the eroded path up by the dike, very steep in places. This did not ease to near the summit cairn on Sugarloaf Hill. After visiting the summit I followed the path SSW to a wide col, then ascending to the SW top of Knockmoylan. A short diversion NE brought me to the main summit. Descending to a col, I picked up the path around the corrie rim, and up to the trig point on the summit of Knockmealdown. I then retraced my route back to the col below Sugarloaf Hill. I followed a boggy track down through the peat, eroded down to the rock in places, to join another north that eventually joined the path down by the dike to the road. Solo.
Hazy sunshine, but with a brisk cold SW wind." — marktrengove2 • Oct 11, 2021
"Parked in Kilcash village at IS 31455 28074, as roadside parking by the hill path was full. This added another 100m to the ascent. Walked up the lanes to the parking area at IS 31780 28826, taking the signed stony path between walls until it emerged onto the open moor by a plantation. From there it was a simple slog relentlessly uphill on a wide path to the summit plateau, sporting a trig (highest point), stone pillar and a huge cairn. Returned the same way. This hill can be busy at weekends in sunny weather, as I had that day. You will not have it to yourself.
Increasingly sunny, but with a brisk cold NW wind" — marktrengove2 • Oct 10, 2021
"From the car park to the northwest up the asphalt for a bit before a wooden post marks the path for the hill. One follows alongside a wall that takes you up to the first rise, which seems to be called Knockmoyle but possibly has too little prominence to be included here. From here it is mostly flat to the bottom of Cush itself, and then there is a steep climb direct to the top. The neighbouring higher peaks were mostly obscured by cloud, but thankfully the weather held for my walk. A sign at the bottom describes the mountain as made up of Silurian, grit and slate, with a thick red mudstone covering. All these things were evident. Plus sheep and peat. Down same way. I thought this walk would completely destroy me, but still life in these legs yet!" — vygodski • Sep 21, 2021
"A short walk with only a slight incline from the west in the fading light after a work meeting in Tipperary. Saw home made signs in the trees. One said "We believe in Fairies" another "We trust in Jesus". Consistency is key, I guess. Highest point hidden in the undergrowth, I think I found it!" — vygodski • Sep 20, 2021
